Cross

I've just got the results of my second essay back, and it's not as good as the first, which means it's a class lower. That's not the end of the world, but I'm disappointed.

I'm more disappointed with some of the comments though. They don't send you back the script, so when they say things like "you need to make sure that your footnotes are in standard format" you don't have a clue what it was that wasn't in standard format. When I'm feeling less bruised about it all, I shall contact them to comment that, actually, that isn't helpful as a learning experience. If they even gave a footnote reference it would be a start, but the written feedback doesn't even give you that.

I shouldn't be too disappointed; what with one thing and another, the essay was done in a rush, and was always likely to be the worst of the essays I had to do. Still I'm disappointed and cross.

But...

I worked out how to do it. All on my own. With random pressings of the mouse button. Hubby would not have approved. You know the sort, the ones that they don't like you doing if they're watching; the sort of "Let's just squirl the mouse really fast over the screen, and press in time to some music going on in my head and see what happens". I'm sure he would have disapproved. But, hah! it worked. Random activity is productive after all.

It's my birthday tomorrow, and I'm so glad that we have the day off. Apparently it's going to be 32 degrees tomorrow (I don't know how to do the little degree sign - and actually, I think I've rather forgotten what it's supposed to look like. Is it a small circle?), which is altogether too hot, and I refuse to go on a tube. We're going to the Globe to see Pericles, Prince of Tyre. It is apparently a "modern practices" production. I'm not at all sure I understand the purpose of those, and they always seem rather weird. Still, I read a review the other day which said it was like circus. But they can't have lions on the stage at the Globe, can they?

We'll have to go into London to get there (obviously, since that's where the theatre is. Duh!), but I'm quite tempted by the thought of a river bus. Much nicer and lots of water. Hurrah!

I'm starting to feel as though I'm growing into my age, if that makes sense. For years I've felt as though I've lagged behind my chronological age, and now I've decided that's quite a good thing, I'm catching up. Bah!

Poo

I want to look at the original EEC Treaty, and you have to ask them for it. But they sent it to me in double-quick time. Only it's a winzip file, and I don't understand how to open it, and hubby is out (collecting my new phone - yay!). Poo, poo, poo.
