Displacement, displacement, displacement

And yet again I find myself blogging because I don't want to be doing something else. In this case it is learning all about the European Court of Justice's approach to education and citizenship in order to write about it eruditely. It's Bank Holiday Monday, and I don't want to be erudite.

Get me, I sound about 14!

Hubby has been busying himself over the weekend by doing the gardening and getting a long hose for the cleaning of the car. He has not cleaned the car though, because it rained instead (and excuse worthy of me, if ever I heard one).

The big news of the weekend though would be that the French have voted against the EU Constitution if (a) we didn't all know that they would, and (b) I couldn't top it with some more domestic, but more important news. Anyone reading this who has seen my house will know that the previous residents, to put it politely, had bloody awful taste. So the whole house needs decorating. But more than having bloody awful taste, they did such things that you can't simply scamper around with a tin of magnolia paint, a la House Doctor. No, no, such things as they did need time and effort (not to mention dosh) to undo. Like bricking up half a glass door without removing it first. Bright.

Hence my extreme glee when we tried to open the velux window in our bedroom (well, I didn't, but hubby did) and the horrid, horrid blind (and why would you have a blind that doesn't match anything, extends into the wardrobe, and it's impossible to open or shut) got yanked, undeliberately, off. I think that knocks the French into a cocked hat, personally. And means that we can see the stars when lying flat. If we happen to be looking in that direction.

Anyway, I feel that if education and an articule by Dora Kostakopoulou (great name) doesn't call, it ought to...

Oh, and another thing

Sometimes this blog contains typos. Those of a pedantic nature will have noticed them. You know who you are.

I make no apologies; it is not a blog entitled "vicks6 without any typos".

So there. Bah.

Two posts in a day warning

Sometimes I worry that this blog doesn't contain lots of links to lots of places to show how witty, erudite and up to date with modern affairs I am. If I had a wide readership, perhaps it would have complained though. Although perhaps the fact that I don't have a wide readership is (a) due to the fact that there are no links to fun places, and (b) the fact that the blog is infrequently updated. Except for today.

Answers on a postcard, please.

Self-important post warning

I am now a very important person. According to my boss I have the power of life and death over my colleagues (I think he was actually lying about that one). I am now Deputy Team Leader.

I think that may mean that I will officially know some of the things which may have unofficially come to my attention. The problem with that, of course, is remembering how you came to know something, and, at the point at which you officially know it, whether you should act surprised or not. So far I am managing by adopting a lofty air, and saying "I know" to everything, whilst fostering the image that I garner information from thin air. Image is, as someone once said, everything.

Blimey

I seem to be posting again with some regularity. It's not as regular as I'd like, but then what is?!

I am not overworked any more, and in fact have very little to do at work at present. This is a goodthing, as it means that I can devote some time to my next essay (citizenship of the European Union - if anyone has any ideas, please feel free to leave a comment!), and thus not have to do any work in the evenings. Hurrah!

I'm still exhausted though, and I'm not quite sure why, as I've been going to bed quite early. Perhaps I'm still catching up...

Reinvention

Hubby has redesigned his blog. I advise a trip over there, as it looks rather snazzy now. I do not have the skills to redesign, and, since I still haven't decided whether this colour is cranberry or blackcurrent, perhaps I shan't learn until I do.

I'm just back from a weekend seminar. V enjoyable, although, as ever, I'm pleased to be home. I admire people who can be sociable all the time. Me, I tend to gravitate towards a few people, who become friends, and then talk to them. It's always useful to be with the sort of people with whom one can talk in shorthand, and not trimmensely worry about offending, as they'll let you know if you have (rather than seethe in silence for years and years, which, come to think about it is more my style anyway). Anyway, I've now exhausted my capacity to be sociable, and am rather at a loose end as I don't want to start any work, but I'd really like to go to bed and sleep for a while. But it's only ten to six...

Displacement Activity

I should really be reading about Free Movement of Persons around the European Union. I must read about Free Movement of Persons before next weekend, which is when I have to go for my next set of seminars and essay planning session. So, of course, I am desperately looking for something to distract me...
