I was right

In that I didn't like Wuthering Heights. But I have read it, and am now on book number 50. I'm quite enjoying this...

Oh, and I've remembered

I have read Kane and Abel. Huzzah. I repeat, result.

One down, 53 to go

I have now read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. V enjoyable. I may read the remainder of the Narnia books. For now though, I'm reading Wuthering Heights, another book I should have read, but never have. I particularly should have read it as I identified the failing in 1987, remedied it so far as buying the book, and then never read it. But I shall do now.

Hubby is joining me on this literary fandango through period, genre, and literacy. He has read 27 so far, but is, no doubt consoled by the fact that we own many of the books with which he can make up numbers, and the ones we don't, I will have bought before he gets to them. There are a reassuring number of girly books in the 100, so I shall enjoy seeing him read those!

I have not yet got the Wuthering Heights thang. But I suspect myself to me more of an Austen gal. More later...

Oh, and, hot tip

If anyone else has this nutty idea, then Amazon is selling a large number of them at £1.50 a shot. Result.

Challenge

I have set myself the challenge of reading the 100 best-loved books. I have a head-start, having read 46 already (47 if you count Kane and Abel, which I believe I once read as a bet).

Unfortuantely, the remainder contain a number of books which I have positively avoided reading for some time, including a number of Dickens' novels. But I'm approaching the task with a sense that I could have been wrong about these books for a number of years, and that it may enrich me to read them. Apart from the Jeffrey Archer, which would only enrich him, hence why I won't read it unless I borrow it from the library.

I'm not setting myself a specific time by which to read them, but I shall try my very best to read the remaining 54. It doesn't sound too many, but does contain some tomes.

Next comes The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe. Yes, I know I should have read it before, but I never did.

It's oh so quiet

In the new corridor. There are fewer people, and fewer people gossiping, and more people just getting on with work. Marvellous. I like it. I think I may stay. For a bit.

I have it!

My own room, that is! And it's great. Very nice to have peace and quiet (apart from the git who spent the whole afternoon trying to fax my telephone; cheers, mate. How long does it take for you to get the message?), but also reassuring that people pop in to speak to me.

The fridge has also been much admired, as has the picture, but not so much the plant. I only now await shelves, and all will be perfect therein. Apart from the mounds of work to do. There is, I suppose, always a downside!

What confuses me

is the fact that my blog is never the most recently published blog, even when I've just published it. I know that there has to be a reason, but I can'd be bothered to work out what it is. Oh, well.

I have a fridge...

It's a very tiny, silver fridge. And it will sit, tomorrow morning, under my desk at work, and keep my milk, and other essentials, cold. I am very (and sadly no doubt) happy with my fridge. Hopefully, it will not use up so much electricity that it is removed from me willy nilly. But, frankly I doubt it, since you can also run it from the cigarette lighter of a car.

I have also bought myself a plant and a picture. My new, solely occupied, office will be the spiffiest place in the building. If I die in the process.

Hey, it's Friday!

Which always causes much jubilation chez vicks6, not least because we have a weekend to receover from work. Hubby is taking his first driving lesson tomorrow. If you're out and about in Essex, think about staying in!

Hubby has queried me going into work v. casually dressed. Have pointed out that shifting stuff into crates is messy work (but, probably more importantly, hot) and I don't care. In any event have small jacket which I could put over my 24 t-shirt if absolutely necessary and pretend to be proper lawyer. Hang on a minute, I've been pretending that for 7 years now!

Life is full of things that you never thought you'd see again

Like perhaps an entry here...? I find it hard to believe that it has been a month. Perhaps I have slipped into some strange time anomaly that centres around my world, and whilst I think it's only been a week, it has in fact been longer.

Or perhaps I'm just a lazy git.

In fairness to me (and I think everyone should be scrupulously fair to me) I have been v. v. busy/stressed over the last few weeks. However, tomorrow I start the move into my own room at work. Huzzah, and hurrah. And it's been a long time coming. Hopefully that means that I will have more time in which to update this blog. But perhaps less to say as I may be more isolated. Hum.
