Friends Reunited

What I'd like to know is why all the people I'd be really interested in knowing about don't leave information about themselves. I've got a friend who's on there who says "well, it's no-one's business". But isn't that the point? And, I think people I was at university with should be forced to say what subject they studied, so that I can see if I really remember them, or whether it's just that their name sounds like someone I might remember.
